On September 22nd, a group of about 30 Hancock High School students left their regular classrooms for an exciting day at the El Paseo Community Garden. This special field trip was part of the Farm to School program. The program helps students connect with local farming, learn about healthy eating, and protect the environment.
When the students arrived, they started their day with a guided tour of the garden. They got to see firsthand how fresh food grows right in the neighborhood. After the tour, the teenagers rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on workshop to learn more about nature. To celebrate the day, the program gave each student free pollinator plants to take home. By the time they left, the students had a little dirt on their shoes and a lot of new ideas for starting their own gardens.
