Who We Are
Opened in 1999 as an elementary school, Hancock has evolved into a high school providing innovative programs focusing on college preparation, community service and leadership.
Hancock's warm and engaging environment enables teachers to focus on developing students who embody integrity, knowledge and character. Hancock fosters leadership skills and facilitates community involvement, with a variety of opportunities and programs designed to help students discover and develop their academic potential and contribute to their community. Hancock encourages students to take college level classes through dual enrollment and dual credit classes in partnership with the City Colleges of Chicago, while also offering numerous academic options in a wide array of disciplines, including over 20 AP courses.
John Hancock College Prep began its transition to Selective Enrollment and Career & Technical Education (CTE – Pre-Engineering and Pre-Law) with the freshman class in the 2015-2016 school year. The transition was completed in the 2018-2019 school year.
