Who We Are
Opened in 1999 as an elementary school, Hancock evolved into a high school providing innovative programs focusing on college preparation, community service and leadership.
Hancock's smaller environment enables teachers to focus on developing individuals of integrity, knowledge and character. Hancock fosters leadership skills and community involvement, with a mix of small group workshops and support programs designed to help students discover and develop their academic leadership abilities. Hancock encourages students to take college level classes through Dual-Enrollment Programs at the City Colleges of Chicago. Hancock's academic program includes special education, regular and Honors-level classes.
John Hancock College Prep began a transition to Selective Enrollment and Career & Technical Education (CTE – Pre-Engineering and Pre-Law) with the freshman class in the 2015-2016 school year. The transition was complete in the 2018-2019 school year.
