The Mission of the Library Media Center

The Vision of the Library Media Center

The library media center is the curricular hub of the school, where students develop a life-long love of reading and learning.

In order to accomplish this, the library will be a place where students, teachers, parents, and community members will feel welcomed and respected. Students will be taught to think for themselves, evaluate information, and to harness information in a meaningful way.

The library will contain a current and well-developed collection that is organized, respectful of different points of view, and enriching, as well as aligned to the school’s curriculum.

The librarian will collaborate with classroom teachers to support the library’s role as an extension of the classroom. He is a leader, an instructor, and a developer of programs.

The librarian has a deep love of literature and what it can offer each individual.

The library will work with the rest of the Hancock community to build a foundation that enables students to reach their potential now and in the future.
