On behalf of the ODLSS Transition Team, we would like to invite you to attend our 2nd Annual Trades Fair. We are excited to provide Diverse Learners across the city with the opportunity to meet with skilled trades vendors, have dialogue experiences with industry professionals and have hands-on experiences with the Trades; including carpentry, plumbing, bricklaying, and more. Students in attendance will be able to explore various trades programs, education, and training opportunities that do not require a 4-year college degree. Should your Diverse Learners be seeking trade-related career endeavors upon their exit from high school, we strongly encourage that they attend!
The event will take place during the school day at the CPS Garfield Park Office (2651 W Washington Blvd) on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. Schools will be responsible for providing transportation to and from this event, and at least one school staff member must be in attendance for every ten students that you plan to send. We encourage family chaperones participate in this event so that they, too, may become oriented with the trades-related opportunities available to their student, all while ensuring their student(s) be afforded the opportunity to navigate the fair with independence.
Please see the attachments below for more information. Students should treat this as an opportunity to meet future employers, and so appropriate dress and behavior is expected. Program and employment offers may be presented to those in attendance, and so we encourage students to treat this experience as not only a career exploration opportunity, but also as a potential employment opportunity as well!
Space is limited, and so requests for schools to participate will occur on a first-come-first-served basis. *REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN - CLICK HERE*
Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions that you may have prior to registering for the event.
Thank you,
