French IV Block 3AC Wright SY24-A days, 11:29 - 12:14 & 12:59 - 13:44

Course Description

This intermediate French course continues to emphasize meaningful communication and language as it is used in real-world situations. The goal of this class is to use French as the primary language of communication for both teacher-student and student-student interactions. To be successful in this course, commitment to using French daily inside (and outside) class is of the utmost importance. Students in this course will elaborate on ideas, ask and answer questions, narrate and describe events, and understand short oral and written passages. Students will expand upon their language skills, become more accurate in the language they produce, comprehend a greater variety of texts, and initiate interactions and generate responses in the language in more complete ways. They will recognize the interrelatedness of cultural products, practices, and perspectives. Students will use their knowledge of French to expand their knowledge of other content areas and gain awareness of multiple viewpoints. They will delve deeper into French grammatical structures. Students will continue to be assessed on three modes of communication, which align with the course standards: interpersonal communication, or two-way interaction with someone else; interpretive communication, the ability to understand and interpret a one-way aural or written text; and presentational communication, the ability to present information in either a written or oral format.
