Sign up for the country:
1. Find a partner
2. Sign up for a country in the attached spreadsheet
3. Write BOTH partner names in the spreadsheet
4. Only double up on a country if all other countries have already been signed up for

Record:
1. Make sure you know at what time and at which station your country is presenting. This info is in the spreadsheet. Mr Toner and Mme Phillips will also be able to help you.
2. Record the entire presentation. Both partners should do it in case one person's video and/or sound quality doesn't turn out.

Submit:
1. Decide which partner's video is the best quality - this is the one you will submit
2. Title your video in this format: "Country name - Student 1, Student 2"

Bonjour, please complete the following assignment in class today:

Visit the attached website, eBookids. This website has many short, simple French stories.

1. Choose any 5 stories.
2. To read, click the story and then click "lire". SOME stories also have audio that you can listen along to. If that is the case, you will also be able to click "audio".
3. For each of the 5 stories, select one comprehension activity to complete from the attached document for that story.

Submit all work in a Google doc and attach to this assignment. (If you do it on paper, take a photo and attach it to this assignment)
You should include the title and link for all 5 stories you chose, and the name of the activity you're doing for each reading.
THIS WILL BE FOR A GRADE IN THE PERFORMANCE CATEGORY!

Bonjour, here is your work for today:

Look through the attached YouTube channel, "Piece of French". It's a channel that shares insights on French language and culture through vlogs and language tips, all while practicing the French language. 

In the first part of class, explore videos of your choice from this channel, independently. You can watch any videos from this channel of your choice.

In the second part of class, create a reflection board of drawings or images about what you've learned from this channel. Your reflection board can be physical (on paper) or digital (slides, Google doc). The reflection board should represent anything you've learned from this channel today: things that surprised you, things you'd be excited to do or discover if you went to France, cultural comparisons to your own cultures, etc. Be creative!
IMPORTANT : Write an explanation on the back/second page of your paper. 

Submit to this assignment (digital copy or photo of a physical copy) by the end of class.

Watch the attached video, where a native French speaker shows you how to play the online prediction game on the website Akinator.

*If you have trouble loading either the site or video try opening them using an incognito tab.

Turn on the FRENCH subtitles (click CC in bottom right corner of video).
 
In a Google doc:

1. Summarize in your OWN words, in ENGLISH, what you understood from the video. Do not try to translate the video word for word; rather, show me what you understand using your own words. Include as many details as possible.

2. List 5-10 new words you learned in this video. List the French, the English, and an image to represent each word.

3. Play on French Akinator (see attached site)! After watching the video, you will have a better understanding of what each question is asking. Include SCREENSHOTS of your guesses on this French version of the site!
 
Submit to this assignment by the end of class.

With extra time you can always work in your Au-delà activities !

One is a worksheet to practice writing numbers. One is several listening activities to practice hearing numbers 

Both will help prepare you for your quiz, which is being pushed back to Wednesday! (Lucky you!) 

For the worksheet, please complete on notebook paper, take a picture, and attach to the assignment on GC. Alternatively, you can type up the answers on a Google doc and attach that.

When done, make sure your Les Couleurs notes are colored in. Markers, colored pencils etc are in the cupboard closest to the door. 

After this, as always: work on your Au-delà (Beyond) choice activities. Remember that these are on paper, not digital, and to be kept in Section 3 of your binders.

Start at video #1. Watch the video and try to understand the overall message. Remember, the goal is the message, not every individual word.

After video #1, on a Google doc, tell me the name of the video and a summary in English (include as many details as you were able to comprehend). 

Move to video #2, and do the same thing. Continue doing this for as many of the 10 videos as possible.

You do not have to get through all 10 videos. But try your best to keep concentrated and get through as much as you can. 

Attach your Google doc to this assignment by the end of class. 

This will be for an interpretive listening grade.

Remember, we are just starting our French journey, so stay with the easiest texts (at the very beginning of the alphabet). You may be surprised as you start reading how much you can already understand by using comprehension strategies such as comparing to English/Spanish, paying close attention to the images, and what makes sense in context! It's OKAY not to understand everything! Your goal is just to get a sense of the overall message.

On a Google doc attached to this assignment, tell me which texts you read (the texts’ titles). For each text, please write a brief summary in English, along with any words you figured out the meaning of, and tell me HOW (ex: context, sounds like English/Spanish, image, etc).

Part way through class, the sub will encourage you to share what you read about with partners.
