Maura Nugent has been teaching English at Hancock since 2014, and currently teaches AP English Literature and English II Honors. Prior to teaching at Hancock, she taught ESL and English at Kelvyn Park High School for seven years. Ms. Nugent holds a Bachelors Degree from Washington University in St. Louis where she studied English Literature, Spanish, and Educational Studies. She also holds a Masters degree in Teaching and Learning from DePaul University in Chicago. In addition to a love of poetry and great works of literature, Ms. Nugent brings a passion for social justice to her work in the classroom. Ms. Nugent currently also co-sponsors the Shakespeare Slam Program at Hancock. Other than the commute from her home in the Albany Park neighborhood on the northwest side of Chicago, she loves everything about Hancock High School.
