Mock Trial Organizer #1 in Google Classroom

Mock Trial Organizer #1

PLEASE READ!

Part I is independent thoughts and reflections. Complete this on your own.

Part II is where you can work together. You still need your own work for this, as you haven't been split into teams and will need this going forward. This is important stuff! Be thorough in your work. This is the kind of stuff real lawyers do, not just something I'm making up for you to have work in the classroom. When creating the timeline, you should be looking for dates and times, but you can also estimate. For example, if someone says that they did something, and then 3 hours later something else happened, you can add 3 hours to the original event to approximate the time of the second event. Timelines are very important!

You may not get to Part III. THAT IS TOTALLY FINE AS LONG AS YOU'RE ACTUALLY WORKING ON PART II. This organizer is not meant to be completed in a class period. It is a process. It is better to be thorough than be done. :) No need to work on it as homework - you will have more class time.

With that in mind, you are going to have to stay on task the next 5 weeks. If you do not, bad things happen. Those things will be LOTS of homework, being totally unprepared for the trial, and/or letting your team down.

Let me know if you have any questions - I should be available via email!

If you were not here last class, the case packet is on the file cabinet next to my desk.

Have a great weekend!

Civil vs. Criminal Cases in Google Classroom

Civil vs. Criminal Cases

First, in your notebooks, brainstorm in your groups all the differences between civil cases and criminal cases that you can think of. DO NOT LOOK IT UP. I want what is in your brain.

After you have exhausted all of those options, go get a handout from the front of the room.

Read and annotate the handout. Later in the class period, an organizer will be posted. Use the reading - AND ONLY THE READING (and your brain) to fill it out. We are not doing internet research on this.
