Maribel Ouielle-Silva

Maribel Ouiellé-Silva is a Spanish and ECS teacher and the ELPT/Bilingual Coordinator. She sponsors the Spanish Honor Society-Chapter Laura Esquivel. and also coordinates the Seal of Biliteracy test. Maribel joined the Hancock College Prep Familia in 2008. Prior to that, she was the CPS World Language High School Coordinator at the Office of Language and Cultural Education (OLCE). She taught Spanish & French at Tilden Career Community Academy for 4 years. Before coming to Chicago, Maribel was an Adjunct Assistant Professor and a Spanish Teaching Assistant at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI where she received her Masters of Arts in Teaching and Spanish Literature.
 
Maribel is the recipient of the 2000 Future Language Teacher of the Year award by the Wisconsin Association for Language Teachers (WAFLT). She also holds a Bachelor of English as a Second Language and a Bachelor of French from the University of Veracruz, Mexico. She also holds a Type 75 Administrative Certificate (Roosevelt University) and she is a National Board Certified teacher since 2009 -just renewed it recently. She also has received Exploring Computer Science (ECS) training in the past 4 years and is an active member of the Computer Science Teachers Association Chicago Chapter. Maribel lives in the Hancock College Prep neighborhood with her husband, her two children, her adorable Shih Tzu Chico, and her little Maltese Osito. Her room is #232 and she welcomes all of her students during her ACLAB hours - the 2nd and 3rd ACLAB of the week.
