Cristen Chapman is entering her 27th year of teaching and her 8th year at Hancock College Prep. She teaches Sociology, AP U.S. Government and Politics, and AP U.S. History. She also coaches the poetry team. She works with Mikva Challenge to enliven student voice and encourage students to see themselves as agents of change in society and the world. 

Ms. Chapman is from Rockford, Illinois. She received her B.A. from Earlham College, and her M.S. in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University. She has been a National Board Certified Teacher since 2010. She received the James Madison Graduate Fellowship in 2022 to pursue her M.A. in U.S. History and is excited to be a student again.

In addition to teaching, she enjoys reading, sewing, playing ukulele, traveling, and fighting for social justice.
