Mr. Herrick grew up in Evanston and attended Emory University, where he majored in English and Political Science. He started his career in public education as an English Teacher in Houston, TX, and later pursued a Master's in Counseling at Northeastern Illinois University. For the last decade, he has worked as a counselor, teacher, and administrator in the Chicago area, primarily on the south and west sides. After being admitted to the Chicago Leadership Collaborative and serving one year as resident principal, Mr. Herrick was hired as the principal of John Hancock College Prep in July of 2017. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Educational Administration and Leadership from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, who is currently a 6th grade student in CPS.
