Hancock social dilemma written and read by Google Dominguez whether we like it or not social media is a much bigger part of our Lives now even our school has been Instagram at CPS Hancock with 1388 followers as of September 9th some students even started making social media pages that are school-related the assistant principal Amy wenzler Carmen said that Administration Walked In Search JCP on Instagram just to check up on the latest accounts our school has pages I would poke fun at our school lunches post original art and even treasure hunts that would spend the school building in the assistant principal some of them are traveling unfortunately there was some pages that made it easier to spread rumors anonymously cyberbullying is a very common issue in an article published unsafety lit.org I Aris T BF reactions to cyber bullying among high school and University students almost 55% of high school students reported that they had recently been cyber-bullied main reasons the Page by the name of at gcp confessions was taken down with the unusual things being said about students and teachers alike this situation in hindsight begs the question should students be allowed to create can manage Hancock related accounts wenzler says I would say no often times they are not productive I would say that students if they thinking about creating an account needs asked what is the I think the best way to go about having a Hancock page is to try to bring it to the school administration and let me know your ideas CPS has a section on its website where they explain what is allowed for students and their social media we have rules that prohibit things such as following your favorite teachers personal accounts and posting identifiable student information what might this have to do with at gcp confessions or similar Pages out of 30-ish rules outline for student internet / social media use JCP confessions violated at least for them more importantly the very first rule is hateful harassing threatening libel defamatory or otherwise meant to bully or intimidate others and the second is defensive or discriminatory the persons based on race ethnicity national origin gender gender identity sexual orientation age physical or mental illness or disability marital status economic status immigration status religion personal appearance or other visible characteristics I didn't even manage to break all of these rules I had a Google form link where people could anonymously confess anything and the owner would share screenshot of the submission people would often share inside jokes and things their friends would say to each other on the other hand post even went as far as accusing others of violent crimes what can be done to prevent these kinds of issues from arising wenzler says that the first thing that happens is interviewing students involved once we get that interview figure out what will happen next through a restorative approach we get involved when it impact something that happens within the school day there's a brighter side so the gcp Instagram Community Administration authorized the jzp affirmations page that occasionally post positive messages for student some pages even use the same idea of an anonymous Google form to ask for help or advice did the famous Nate the monkey a cute stuffed animal that poses around the school and is less famous sibling fuzzy the monkey 100 spoke on her favorite account stating that JCP food reviews was her all-time favorite she planes that there's been some work on changing the School menus because student council was advocating for better food so I think that's a productive account that's the funniest this was written in Hancock College Prep journalism class for cool paper the signature the audio recording and editing software was made possible through a grant from the Illinois press foundation and the Illinois Farm.
