Hello,
Sorry I will not be here today. Attached is your lesson/assignment for today:
1. Review your lab/simulation results and compare with the slides. Force vs. Displacement (slides 3-4) and Energy vs. Displacement (slides 5-6).
2. Use these relationships to work with your group on the lab-based questions on Workbook p96-98 ("Spring Potential Energy").
3. Work with your group to identify key ideas or assumptions that will help to answer Workbook p90-97 (Work, Energy, Energy Graphs etc.), then attempt to solve them.
4. Finish any remaining questions for homework.
See you on Monday!
Hello! I will not be in class today. Your assignment is to conduct TWO lab investigations to see how the displacement/stretch of a spring affects the tension force it exerts and the amount of energy it stores. You will use a computer simulator to do this.
Open the simulator linked below and choose the "Energy" tab.
Open the Google Sheet linked below. It will guide you through every step of the two lab activities (there are three tabs/buttons at the bottom of the sheet - you start on the "Intro" one, follow the directions, then click the "Force vs. displacement" one and conduct the first lab investigation, then click the "Energy vs. displacement" one and conduct the second lab investigation.

Completed lab reports (i.e. the Google Sheet) must be submitted before next class, so use you time wisely. You can conduct the investigations with a partner (i.e. set up the simulation the same) but EACH student must complete a lab report/Google Sheet.
Have fun and see you next class!
Hi everyone,
Unfortunately I will not be in class today. Ms. Mancera will be your substitute teacher for today - once again, please use your time wisely and hold each other accountable to complete the THREE tasks attached.
1. (Newton's Third Law FBD problems, 15mins) With a partner, compare your Newton’s Third Law FBDs with the solutions posted on Google Classroom. Clarify any misunderstandings, or note down questions that still confuse you.
2. (Triangles Handout 15-20mins) Compare answers with your groupmates. Are you able to find the missing sides? (If you are getting different answers, make sure your calculator is set to DEGREES, not ‘radians’.)
3. (Google Slides or Graph Paper 45mins) Review slides 6-7. Draw free-body-diagrams for each object/system given in problem 1&2 (slides 8&9), determine the vertical/horizontal components as needed. Read slides 10-12 and discuss with a partner. Draw free-body-diagrams for each object/system given in problem 3,4,5 (slides 13-15), determine the vertical/horizontal components as needed.
Hello everyone,
Due to a family emergency I will not be in school today. So, of course the Forces concept quiz is postponed until Tuesday.
Please do not use a "sub" as an excuse to take extended bathroom breaks and "do nothing". We cannot afford to lose a day in AP Physics! Attached are the plans/slides for today.
1. Review the results of your Fgravity vs. mass lab and add to notes (see slides 3-4).
2. Review Newton's Third Law - with your group, try the example problem (slide 6) - remember to always start with your notes and what you can assume about the situation, then compare with the solution *slide 7).
3. Practice Free Body Diagrams that involve both Newton's First Law and Newton's Third Law on the handout linked below. Turn in when done. You can do these on loose leaf (graph paper is even better to keep the size of your vectors consistent!) or if you have an online editor you can draw directly on your ChromeBook.
Have a good day and see you next week.
